You’ll learn about how babies start to cry, how toddlers start to talk, adolescents’ mood swings, midlife crisis, etc. ![]() Basically, developmental psychology revolves around learning about humans’ development, from birth to death. One person asked about developmental psychology and what’s going on within the course. Usually you’ll be taking introductory courses ( e.g.: Introduction to Developmental Psychology ) during your first and second year of undergraduate studies, before focusing on full psychology courses ( e.g.: Cognitive Development ) in your third and final year. Common subjects include Introduction to Psychology, Statistics ( for research purposes), Developmental Psychology and Abnormal Psychology. In terms of subjects and syllabus, it differs according to what program you are taking and where you are studying (public universities vs private universities/ local universities or overseas). In this course, students are expected to learn about all aspects of human behaviors (cognition, emotion, sleep, memory, etc) and the hows and whys that come with them. The textbook definition of Psychology is the scientific study of human behavior. With this being said, you do not have to be a Science stream student in order to take this course. Psychology is one of the many fields under the social science (also known as human science, humanities, or arts ) stream.
